Train to teach with us
Train to teach with Hambrook Primary School.
Training to teach with Bath Spa University via the United For Teaching Excellence; Nurturing The Next Generation Of Educators Cluster (The Cluster that Hambrook Primary School leads), provides the highest quality training using the full range of our resources and professional expertise. The training offer is underpinned by an ambitious curriculum and relevant research.
As a partnership, we believe that every child within our Bath Spa and United For Teaching Excellence; Nurturing The Next Generation Of Educators Cluster, partnership deserves the very best teachers. Our new teachers will impact on their lives by improving outcomes and developing confident independent members of the community. United For Teaching Excellence; Nurturing The Next Generation Of Educators Cluster offers the opportunity to train to become a teacher while working in the classroom and being part of an established teaching team in our Partnership Schools.
What do Bath Spa Teachers learn?
Bath Spa Teachers choose to undertake their training through following one of these Primary Teaching routes:
Primary 3-7 age phase (Early Years and Key Stage 1)
Primary 5 – 11 age phase (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2)
Primary 7-11 age phase (Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2)
Our partnership curriculum is co-constructed by expert colleagues from school and university and is founded on four key principles – collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and care. This is underpinned by the ITT Core Content Framework. You will develop your knowledge, skills and experience through a combination of university and school-based training. University training will usually take place at the Sion Hill Campus in Bath, and over 120 days of school-based training will be undertaken within our cluster of schools.
Trainees on the Primary 5 – 11 or 7 – 11 routes can also opt to undertake a specialism. These are subject to change each year, but include subject specialisms (such as English, PE or music) or non-subject specialisms such as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND))
Successful completion of training to teach within our partnership results in a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
